Welcome to the incoming first years! Please visit the Miller lab in Hild 215 on Wed. Aug. 17th from 3-5pm.
Our latest study describing computation methods to predict voltage sensitivity of VoltageFluors in living cells is up on ACS Chem Bio ASAPs. Congrats to Rishi, Narges, and Feroz as well as our collaborators Han and Yi at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Maroof and Dave at UC Berkeley!

Group Meetings for the fall semester will begin on August 24, 3 to 5 pm in 775A Tan Hall.
Check out Parker's paper describing new tetramethylrhodamine voltage reporters. Great job, everyone!
The First-ever joint Kramer-Miller group meeting will be held tomorrow, Wednesday September 16 from 3 to 5 pm in 177 LSA.
Normal Miller lab group meeting service will return on Sep 23.
Be sure to check out Vince and Ali's new paper in JACS describing a small-molecule photoactivatable optical sensor of transmembrane potential. We call it "SPOT".
Congrats to Yi-Lin Huang and Ali Walker on their just accepted publication describing a NIR voltage-sensitive dye, BeRST 1 (Berkeley Red-based Sensor of Transmembrane potential, or "burst").
Check it out here.
But we're back! Check out the new additions to the Miller Lab. Belated welcome to all the new members...
Welcome to Alison Walker, Ben Raliski, Woo Tack Hong. Ali recently earned her PhD in nuerobiology at King's College London, where she studied synaptic calcium transients in neurons and motion-sensitive retinotectal neurons in larval zebrafish. Ben has joined the lab for the summer as part of the prestigious Amgen Schloars Program. Woo Tack comes to us from our very own UC Berkeley and will be a junior next term. Welcome Ali, Ben, and Woo Tack!
Congratulations to Kendall Wong for receiving a SURF/Rose Hills Fellowship!
Congratulations to Parker Deal, who was recognized for his fantastic teaching with a 2014 Outstanding GSI Award!
After a long break, you can expect more news from the Miller Lab.
First, welcome to Alisha, Rishi, and Vince who have signed on after completing their Chemical Biology Rotations!
A (belated) welcome to the newest chembio rotation students, Vince, Alisha, and Sam! (The Team)
Another belated welcome to the newest member of the lab: Parker Deal has joined from the chemistry department! Welcome aboard, Parker! (The Team)
Welcome to Kendall Wong, a sophomore Molecular and Cell Biology student! (The Team)
Evan will present a "chalk" talk on strategies for voltage sensing with small molecule fluorophores.
Come by 320 Hildebrand at 5:20 pm (to give everyone the option to attend Naiomi Ginsberg's seminar from 4 pm to 5 pm) for pizza, drinks, and some science!
We are making progress! New cabinets, glassware and fume hoods. More to come soon!
Join us at 5 pm in 320 Hildebrand for dinner. Evan will present a chalk talk on some research projects in the group. See you there!
Don't forget, the first, inaugural Miller Group meeting/open house will take place tonight at 5 pm in 320 Hildebrand (3rd floor, east side). Pizza and drinks provided!
The first Miller lab group meeting will be on Tuesday, September 3rd, at 5 pm in 320 Hildebrand. Hot food and cold beverages will be provided. Evan will talk about some of his work as a postdoc on developing new methods for monitoring neuronal activity.
